A gift to Water East Timor in your will could save lives in Timor Leste by reducing preventable diseases caused by the lack of clean water and sanitation
Very generous bequests over the years have helped to swell the waters.
Our Benefactors & Bequests
Bendigo-based Fran and Martin Sheean developed an affection for Timor-Leste’s generous and welcoming people after visiting in 2017. Following Fran and Martin’s deaths in 2020-1, a bequest in their names provided water for 250 people in the village of Taurema.
Sauria is a small rural village in Timor-Leste, 65 km southwest of the capital Dili. Water for Sauria was made possible by a donation from the Russell family of Melbourne. This system, delivering clean drinking water to 600 people, is a living memorial to Dr. Janet Shepherd. There is no life without water.
Joy’s donation in memory of her daughter Tracy provided water tanks to the Senior High School at Letefoho. Letefoho is one of the larger villages in the Ermera district and this project benefitted hundreds of students.
Xavier Magavin is remembered as a man who always lent a helping hand to others. A donation from his friends and family brought water to the Letefoho community, to supply the parish community residence, surrounding houses and the busy Letefoho market. Over 1,000 people now have access to clean water.
